Sunday Afternoon

Prego’s FunDay Family Brunch is offering tasty Italian cuisine and a whole lot of fun for the whole family.

Bright colorful balloons are floating from the chairs when I arrive at Prego on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Young families with their excited children are at ease in the spacious restaurant. A magician is hard at work and constantly being surrounded by children who make all sort of requests, from poodle balloons to a little show of magic.

Meanwhile, their parents are having a good time especially because they know that their little ones are also being watched by the attentive staffs and included in the activities on the restaurant area. Lead by chef de cuisine, Alessandro Molini, Prego offers a buffet of tasty Italian treats. From antipasti to handmade pasta, the selections cater to all range of taste. “Everyone come for our fresh handmade pasta served with delicious sauces. Don’t miss our Lasagna, it is made based on my grandmother’s recipe,” says Molini when I ask him about which dish that I should try first.

Carrying a plateful of antipasti to my table, I immediately go back to the pasta live cooking station to order a portion of Spaghetti Aglio Olio e Pepperoncini. The antipasti successfully raise my appetite. Picture a tiny ricotta cheese stuffed with a salty bresaola and fagottini or a freshly shucked oyster that only need a little squeeze of lime to be perfect. My spaghetti arrives al dente and delicious, and remembering that there are still the other sauces to try, I remind myself to have not so much of it.

The roasted meat and cheese section are other temptations that should not be missed. The grilled rib-eye is a treat, especially when I enjoy it with a seriously tasty Eggplant Parmigiana. While I eat, a giant squirrel named Pipo is making an entrance. The beloved mascot is immediately surrounded by children while their parents are taking clever cute shots of their offsprings.

The staffs also offer a dance number and the children immediately follow. It is festive and fun. After a short break, I carry myself to the dessert section where a chocolate fountain and a wide selection of cakes are served. A Tiramisu later, I close my meal with a cup of cappuccino and call it a brunch well spent. Another cool thing about FunDay Family Brunch at Prego is it offers a complimentary access to the resort’s swimming pool. With that, I slowly embark on a short trip to cool off and relax by the secluded pool to enjoy what is left of the pleasant day.
