AN INDEPENDENCE DAY SPECIAL: A CULINARY JOURNEY TO INDONESIA
Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City with Chef Twedi Martatna as our Executive Chef, decided to select our Demi Chef de Partie, Chef Sahrul Anwar as the champion chef. Chef Sahrul Anwar prepared the dishes from his origin, Betawi; IKAN PECAK BETAWI (Betawi Style Fried Fish with Aromatic Ginger). He has been working at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel since 2016 and was well known about Indonesia and Asia cuisine. In his young age, he is also very competent in cooking.
Jkan Pecak Betawi offers fried Gourame fish, served with hot chili sauce mixed with ginger and Grilled Steam Rice on banana leaf. This combination of dish truly exemplifies the rich flavors of Betawi cuisine.
In contrast to the previous years, this year's roadshow will only take a place in Jakarta, hence the title Indonesia Culinary Journey- The Jakarta Chapter and will be held simultaneously at each participating hotel. It will be officially launched at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta on 10 August 2017 and the authentic Seven (7) dishes from the Seven (7) different chefs during the promo with price starts from IDR 388.000++ per person, from 10 - 31 August available for Dinner Buffet only at Anigre Restaurant, Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel.
With the initial idea of Indonesia's culinary diversity, each hotel has prepared their best authentic Indonesia dish which represents the hotel during this culinary promotion. The dish was painstakingly selected via an internal chef competition held at each participating hotel. Besides the taste, there is a unique and authentic story behind each dish that influenced the judges' decision.
The other champion Chefs are namely; Chef Ridwan Maulana from JW Marriott Jakarta with the recipe 'Nasi Tutug Oncom with Gepuk Samba/ Kecombrang', Chef Nurrohman from The Mayflower Executive Apartments, Jakarta with the recipe 'Nasi Goreng Kambing', Chef Kevin Saputra from The Westin Jakarta with 'Nasi Ulam Komplit', Chef Candra Sudirgo from Keraton at the Plaza with 'Tuna Asap Saus Magut', Chef Syaifulloh from Le Meridien Jakarta with 'Kiuwek Semur Daging Sapi', and last but not least Chef Eka Arti Setiadi from The Hermitage with 'Taste of Indonesia'.
